How To Cope With The Gilas Gold Medal Loss

A lot of us Gilas fans are sulking in sadness over the finals match loss to China. It's a "Sunday Mourning" back in the Philippines.

But we can't be dwelling on this for the rest of time. Monday and a new week is at hand. And it means we all need to go back to business. But how, when the 11-point drubbing is just too fresh in our memories? When what preoccupies our minds right now is the lost chance to go back to the Olympics.

So here's how we can go about with this stinging loss.

Yes we heard it a lot of times.

So sige, go, i-tweet mo na yung sama ng loob mo. Pag ginawa mo yan, panigurado mare-realize mo, you are not alone in this. Remember misery loves company!

This is also the time when the trolls are in higher spirits. Kaya and pinaka-okay eh, deadmahin mo nalang sila.

At one point you'll realize that it would have been better if you were not a Gilas fan at all. But that's how you will feel after this earth-shaking loss to China. Kamukha ng pag-ibig, eh dapat no regrets nalang teh. So forget about having regrets. It will only make you feel bad, or worse.

At this point it will help to look back at happier days. Reminisce the times we beat Iran, that Happy Monday we had almost a week ago. Or how about pagmasdan mo uli yung buhok nung Indian coach. Good memories will surely help you feel a lot better.

Pero let's be realistic as well. We have jobs. We have schools. We have a home and family to take care of. At mahahalaga sila para sa atin. We need to focus our energy on these things from now on. And little by little these basketball scars may just find its way to healing.

Turn off the wifi. Stop social media for a while. And go out. If you have a significant other, then have a date. Same thing if you have a family, pasyal pasyal din. Hindi naman kelangan gumastos. Go to church together, and give thanks for the wonderful Gilas joyride we just had.

Lastly, let's all be positive for Philippine Basketball. This should lift our spirits up na back-to-back silver medalists tayo sa Fiba Asia. And we have a very exciting basketball activities coming up, namely the PBA, NBA. Of course we're in the thick of things in college hoops in the Philippines. So there's so much basketball going to happen in the next days to come. Finally, we have a good reason to look forward to having a better, much improved and an awesome Gilas 4.0 in the very near future!

Interview with the Lobo

It's an historic game 7. And almost every party involved were asked for a word or two. They were saying bonuses not as important as the prestige of coming back from a 0-3 quagmire. The other team saying they've never been motivated to finish off what they have started. But one thing for sure is left in the dark. Literally all by their lonesome at the rafters.

Easy, Easy.

I'm not sure a lot would remember Lionel Richie's classic song Easy and its opening line: Know it sounds funny But I just can't stand the pain...

Mang-asar at sabihing mali sila. Tanga si Coach Tab at tinanggal si Abueva. Sana hindi tayo yung first game kahapon. Sana nagpahiram yung ibang team noong Fiba Asia nung nakaraang taon. (Teka, anong linya 'to?)
